the present view and respond

How does the story unfold? Are there particular moments  that stand out to you as particularly powerful or effective? What image elicits the most emotion from you?  What theme or message (s) do you take from the movie? How do the filmmakers convey that message visually and/or verbally?

1. The boy is playing video games when his mom comes home with a gift for him. He opens the box to find a 3 legged puppy and when he realizes the puppy is missing a leg he shoos it away. The dog begins to play around and is all cute and the boy is like okay this dog isn't so bad after all so he decides to get up and go outside with the dog. Its then revealed that the boy also is missing a leg so him and the dog are actually the same. Which is very heartfelt and very nice of his mom to get him a gift that is fun and relates to him.

2. The moments that stand out to me are the moment he realizes the dog is missing a leg, when the dog is flopping around in the box and having fun despite his disability and the moment the boy stands up and you see he too is missing a leg.

3. The image that afflicts the most emotion for me is the moment they're standing next to each other walking out the door, they're having fun and now they're friends because they relate to each other.

4. The theme I got from the movie is that sometimes people don't want to relate to people who are the same as them. Just because a person is a certain way doesn't mean they want to be around people or animals like them. But also the theme is we should accept each other the way we are and not take our personal feelings out on other cute dogs.

5. I think visually they made the dog so cute that the boy had to be friends with him and couldn't resist it. Also i think the drama and dark shillouete scene where they're both walking out and you see their disability is visually very powerful. Also when the boy throws the dog on the ground and the dog doesn't get sad and just like shakes it off it very nice and shows how you shouldn't let other people get to you.
