Publication 5.1-- A Day In McCallum Dance ONE

MARTHA INSPIRED-- Students in Ms. Adamez 6th period Dance 1/ Aerobic Dance class perform their Martha Graham inspired daily assignment. The students just began their modern unit and are creating pieces to be featured in their end of year informal concert. Martha Graham was one of founders of modern dance and is the second artist to be studied in the unit. Dance 1 is a course that offers PE or fine arts credit and features a large curriculum of Social/ballroom, Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop and Modern.

LANGUAGE OF DANCE-- Freshman Dance 1 students Mckenna Carpenter, Camille Selis, Isabella Pell, Meaisa McDonold and Mary Flores gather round their paper to observe dance concepts use in the video they observed. Students then fill out a chart that has effort, emotion, shape, space, actions and dancer relationships. For actions they use language of dance concepts and symbols to represent movements. "Dance is a great way to start the day because it's fun and relaxing, plus ms. Adamez is a really great teacher!!" Said Selis. Dance 1 is a great fun class to get your PE credit out of the way!!

MOVE TO THE MUSIC-- Freshman Measia McDonold practices her groups Martha Graham modern dance routine. Poking out in the background is dance teacher Ms.Adamez and her son who joined the class today. "He had a fever this morning but doesn't anymore, I'm sure you've all been there" Said Ms Adamez. The class really enjoyed having a cute kid as a special guest.
