Mirrorless Cameras mini research Project

A mirror less camera or mirror less interchangeable lens camera is a camera with interchangeable lens that does not have a mirror reflex optical viewfinder. A reflex finder is a viewfinder system with a mirror placed behind the lens. So I guess they don't have this. With a reflex finder, you can focus the image on the ground glass and frame your picture at the same time. This mirror flips the image so its right side up and I think without the mirror the image is backwards in the viewfinder.

PROS

1. SMALLER AND LIGHTER
2. SEEING LIGHT TONE AND MOOD
3. GOOD, EASY AUTO FOCUS

Great for travel

CONS
Since they re smaller, they have less room for some functions such as the battery, so it doesn't last as long as a dslr. They sometimes don't have very accurate in limited lighting and some don't even have a viewfinder

MY OPINION.

Personally I think if you're going to purchase new expensive cameras for high school students to use DSLR would be better because that's from my experience what most people use and what most people learn how to use. I think learning a dslr would be the most useful for them and the easiest because they're probably slightly familiar with them. Its all electronic and in this day and age what I feel most students would understand and like. You don't have to learn anything post production you just upload. I think it's the best option for our school.

Photo Challenge Votes

6 OF MY VOTES GO TO
PHOTO CHALLENGE 1

I have done longer shutter in the past and I think it's one of my favorite kinds of photography and it would be really fun to do in this class. I think I could get really creative with it and draw some cool photos with sparklers or flashlights.

4 OF MY VOTES GO TO
PHOTO CHALLENGE 6

I think Macro would be a nice fun easy challenge because our school has some interesting people and textures that would look good in a macro photo. Walking around finding things to take close up pictures would be really fun.

Publication 6.1

FLAMENCO FIRE--First year dance majors perform a 3 in 1 flamenco medley in the dance programs annual spring show. First year dancers are required to go through the flamenco class which teaches them many  different aspects to the dance. Freshman dance major Chloe Shield says "Flamenco is something that really challenged me because I'm strictly a ballet/modern/jazz dancer but being exposed to this really opened my horizons".

SOUL SEARCHING- Dances majors perform "Trust" in their annual spring show. The show features a collection of work from throughout the year and also shows off all levels of dance majors. This particular dance even had the dancers working with paint.  Junior dance major Lexie Staes days"my favorite of being in the dance academy is the exposure to different styles of dance and how throughout the four years every dancer shows growth and gains a new appreciation for dance". The dance program will have one last show this year their annual benefit show on Friday May 6th in the MAC.

ALL RED EVERYTHING-- Second, third, and fourth year dance majors perform during the dance programs annual spring show. The show was on Friday April 8th and is the second to last dance show of the year. The closer for the dance program is their Benefit show which is on May 6th in the MAC theater. Junior Dance Major Terin Dailey says "My favorite part of being in the academy are the friendships the dancers form together and the fun things we get to do".

Photo Ethics Baseball

I think removing the arm is perfectly ethical because its just an arm its not like its a persons face. It doesn't add anything to the picture, the moment, or the story and the photo is only enhanced when you remove the stray arm. I think if you were to ask the man attached to the arm if it mattered to him, I don't think he would have a problem with his arm being removed. I think the photo is so good and does a great job showing the moment that the removal of a stray parents arm isn't really that big of a deal. Although I don't think leaving the arm there really makes the photo bad. You could leave it and it would be fine.

Photojournalism Portfolio Review

I think this portfolio flows well, because its photojournalism, each photo tells its own story, though I think their all related with the theme of events or issues. Capturing real life events or real life stories, nothing posed or fake its all real. I think each image contributes to the overall story well because it starts off at a dance show, then McCallum events, an abortion rally and then my mom lol. I think all the images bring forth different sides of photojournalism. I think the captions definitely add to the story considering this is photojournalism the images are suppose to tell stories, but in the end there's only so much you can get from the image. For example with my photos they may just look like a woman sitting with balloons, or laying down, you need the caption for the back story that's not in the image. In the abortion photos you can see what the people directly stand for, but there is  more to their opinions than whats displayed on the sign so the captions are necessary. After viewing this portfolio the thing that sticks with me is really the amount of interesting stories that are local and how powerful and interesting they are. I currently cant think of anything I would've done differently I think this portfolio is really strong. I really like every photo in it and think they're all strong images but it maybe could've used a little more variation in stories.

Photo Challenge 9 Architecture

DETAILS This photo was taken in the mac and I took an up close worms eye view photo of the theatre sign to just make it say eat and add humor to the photo. I think its a good detail photo because its up close on something you might not notice if you were just looking at the photo and its monochromatic and simple.

PATTERN I think this is a good pattern photo because it features three patterns all joined together in a triangle shape because of the angle which I think adds depth. I also think the white beams add interest to the photo. Lastly I think the light on this photo makes the bottom two patterns flat and and top one look like a gradient.

LIGHT The light of this photo adds depth and creates a dark tunnel leading line to the bright doorway. I think the light adds lots of lights and darks that create shapes throughout the photo and make a plain building look more interesting. I also think the two recycle bins that are in real life the same size but in this photo contrasting sizes and at opposite ends creates a nice diagonal line.

ANGLE  AND SHAPE I think this photo is good for angle and shape because the worms eye view creates an interesting point of view on a boring doorway. The angle also creates diagonal lines and shapes with the blue poles that split up the photo and create interest to the otherwise boring wall background.

SURROUNDINGS I think this is a good surroundings photo because you get the building as kind of an aftermath and you can see the surroundings as the foreground first thought. The steps build up the building which is then framed by the symmetrical huge trees and two benches. Then the blue doors add specks of color in a dull colored photo.
